My parents won't let me drive long distances?

I'm 18, I've been driving for two years, never had any issues/tickets/etc. Anyway, I have my UPitt orientation next month, and I live in Philly. I want to do the drive alone, and stay the night on campus for $30, but my parents won't let me do the drive alone. It's a straight 300 mile trip on one highway. Now since my parents won't let me do it alone, that means that we will have to book two hotel nights, which will cost $260. If I drive alone, its $30, with them its $260, but parent's overprotectiveness outweighs logic unfortunately. What should I do?
