Am I am bad person for hurting him again?

He was so amazing. We were in love. He had everything undercontrol in both our lives. He knew what I should wear and say and made sure I listened. When I didn't listen he would yell and slapped a few times but the good outweighed the bad. He said something offending and i dumped him in a moment of anger. Then he did something stupid (involving matches and my front door, there was minimal damage). He went to a psych ward for a week and months later we got back together. Then my parents broke us up. I know I was stupid go get back with him :( but was it wrong to hurt him like this??? Help me
